Recovering From Mortgage Fraud Is Hard To Do
Free Toolkit for Mortgage Fraud Available Online
WASHINGTON, Oct. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Mortgage fraud is one of the fastest growing financial crimes in the country. It is a multibillion-dollar-a-year industry that has an impact on American homeowners across the socioeconomic spectrum. The National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) has responded by creating an online toolkit for Victim Service Providers (VSPs), attorneys, and victims of mortgage fraud. The Mortgage Fraud Online Toolkit is available free of charge. The toolkit provides VSPs and attorneys who assist victims of mortgage fraud with information and tools to create a successful recovery plan for their mortgage fraud victims. Information in the toolkit will help victims understand their rights, offer action steps to take to help recover from fraud, and identify government agencies and organizations to which they should report the crime.
The information included in the toolkit was created under the funding and guidance of the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) and its Mortgage Fraud Victim Initiative.
Contents include the following:
- Podcast interviews
- Fact sheets
- Palm cards, fliers, and posters
- PowerPoint presentations on mortgage fraud
- Mortgage Fraud Consortium information with organizations and services provided
- National mortgage settlement information
- Audio and video public service announcements
"Mortgage fraud prevention starts here with NCPC. This toolkit provides valuable training, technical assistance, and downloadable resources for mortgage fraud victims and potential homebuyers to react and recover from this problem," says Ann Harkins, president and CEO of NCPC.
