NEW YORK, Aug. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Rear View Safety, an industry leader in the sales and distribution of vehicle safety solutions, including backup camera systems, backup sensor systems, driver fatigue systems, mobile DVR's, and dash cameras, has always been ahead of the times. The Brooklyn-based company, which turns 10 this year, is proud to introduce the RVS-SCM Safety Compatibility Mat. The RVS-SCM is used to test compliance with the new Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 111 law.
The new requirement regulates a necessary view behind a vehicle. In vehicles with limited rear vision, installation of a backup camera which provides the necessary rear view will be mandatory. The rule impacts vehicles under 10,000 pounds gross, with phase-in effective by May 2017 and full compliance required by May 2018.
All Rear View Safety cameras can comply with FMVSS 111. Click here for a FMVSS 111 Compliance Demo Video from the 2017 NTEA Work Truck show. This video shows the new required field of view on a truck missed by traditional mirrors that would be eliminated with a backup camera system. The company is also offering hands-on compliance assistance for OEM/large customers.
"As a safety advocate with over 10 years of experience, we fully understand the law," said Rear View Safety Director of Sales Jean-Paul Weaver. "From assisting with building sight cones, to perfecting proper camera position, and everything in between, we're here to help," continued Weaver.
