Reappointment to the Canada Council for the Arts
GATINEAU, QC, July 29, 2013 /CNW/ - The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced the reappointment of Joseph L. Rotman as Chair of the Canada Council for the Arts for a term of five years.
"I am very pleased to announce that Mr. Rotman has agreed to continue serving with distinction as Chair of the Canada Council for the Arts," said Minister Glover. "His leadership and wealth of experience in corporate and public governance are an asset to the council."
Mr. Rotman was first appointed Chair of the Canada Council for the Arts on July 30, 2008. He is Chair of Roy-L Capital Corporation, a private family investment company. Mr. Rotman is also currently the Chair of Grand Challenges Canada and of the Ontario Brain Institute, as well as Chancellor of Western University.
Mr. Rotman is an Officer of the Order of Canada. He holds a Master of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario.
The Canada Council for the Arts is a federal Crown corporation created by an Act of Parliament in 1957. The role of the Council is to foster and promote the study and enjoyment of the arts and the production of artistic works.
