MADISON, N.J., Nov. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Realogy Holdings Corp. (NYSE: RLGY) recently was recognized with a Corporate Board Gender Diversity Award by Executive Women of New Jersey (EWNJ). Of the 99 New Jersey companies listed on the Russell 3000, Realogy's Board is 44% women ─ the highest percentage of women on a corporate Board, tying with American Water. Realogy has four women and five men on its Board of Directors.
EWNJ presented the diversity award last week to 16 New Jersey companies leading the way in boardroom gender diversity. The companies awarded were determined based on a report titled, "A Seat at the Table: Celebrating Women and Board Leadership," which was produced by EWNJ in collaboration with PwC.
"We are proud that our Board is viewed as a leader in gender diversity," said Richard A. Smith, chairman, chief executive officer and president of Realogy. "The most effective corporate Boards bring different backgrounds and viewpoints to the table, and companies should look to accelerate the pace at which they are diversifying their boardroom."
The EWNJ report also pointed to a September 2014 study by Credit Suisse that examined 2,360 global companies and found that companies with women directors outperformed companies without women directors in a number of areas, including return on equity, growth, and price book value.
The other New Jersey companies honored at the EWNJ event included (in alphabetical order): American Water, BD (Becton Dickinson and Company), Campbell Soup Company, CIT Group. Inc., Dunn & Bradstreet, Honeywell International, John Wiley & Sons, Inc., Johnson & Johnson, Northfield Bancorp, Inc., Prudential Financial, Inc., Quest Diagnostics, Inc., South Jersey Industries, Inc., The Children's Place, The Chubb Corporation, and Vitamin Shoppe, Inc.
This is the second year EWNJ has presented the award to companies, and in both years, Realogy has been a recipient. Also in 2014, Realogy was named a 2020 Women on Boards Winning "W" Company for the third consecutive year, signifying its designation as a company that has 20% or more of their board seats held by women.
Founded in 1980, EWNJ is where New Jersey's executive women connect and collaborate across all sectors to share experiences, develop relationships, and build business. For more information, visit www.ewnj.org.
