RealNetworks Names Two New Executives
New RealNetworks hires bring fresh approach and focus to digital media strategy and new product development
SEATTLE, May 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- RealNetworks, Inc. (NASDAQ: RNWK) today announced that two new executives have joined its leadership team. Torrie Dorrell joins the company as Senior Vice President of Digital Media and Strategy, while Robert Gross assumes the role of Vice President of New Products. Both executives report directly to RealNetworks President and CEO Thomas Nielsen.

In the newly created position of Senior Vice President of Digital Media and Strategy, Torrie will focus on building out RealNetworks strategy and products around consumer-facing digital media solutions and products.
Torrie brings over twenty years of experience in developing, marketing and selling innovative content and services across many mediums. She most recently served as Vice President of Applications, Content and Games at T-Mobile where she led a team responsible for delivering applications, games and services to enrich customers' mobile experiences. She also oversaw T-Mobile's digital stores, mobile advertising and cloud services. Prior to T-Mobile, she held executive positions at Sony Online Entertainment, Universal Studios, Warner Bros. and The Walt Disney Company.
As Vice President of New Products, Robert will be responsible for the development of emerging products from RealNetworks. This newly created role will focus on -- and leverage -- internal and external resources to ensure RealNetworks keeps filling the pipeline with innovative new products across its technology portfolio.
Before joining RealNetworks, Robert most recently spent over sixteen years with Microsoft, where he held various leadership and engineering management roles across many different divisions, platforms and devices. Before Microsoft, he held executive positions at IBM, Sun Microsystems, Yamaha Music and Lucasfilm. Robert holds graduate degrees in music theory and composition and was on the staff of several companies where he worked on music and acoustic research, sound and picture editing, as well as audio and video platform products.
