RealGames Strengthens Executive Team With Social Networking Veterans
Wilf Russell named chief technology officer, Jeffrey Revoy as vice president of social games
SEATTLE, March 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- RealGames™, a division of RealNetworks®, Inc. (Nasdaq: RNWK), today announced that Jeffrey Revoy has joined the executive management staff as vice president of social games. In addition to welcoming Revoy, RealGames also announces the promotion of Wilf Russell to the position of chief technology officer.
Both veterans of the social networking space, Russell and Revoy have deep experience driving new technologies to success in the mass consumer market. At RealGames, they are part of a hand-picked management team that began to take shape in November 2008 when John Barbour stepped into the role of president of the games division at Real. Barbour has since worked to attract additional talent to RealGames that will drive the business forward, beginning with the appointment last summer of Matt Hulett as chief revenue officer and continuing with Revoy and Russell.
Revoy has more than 20 years of Internet and technology experience, coupled with extensive experience in the social media space. During his six years at Yahoo!, Jeff held senior roles both in the US headquarters and overseas. As vice president of search, local and social media, Revoy held global responsibility for Yahoo! Answers, one of the most successful community sites on the Internet, which saw over 130 million monthly unique users and 1 billion page views under his leadership. Most recently, he served as president of the Interactive Services group at CenturyLink, a Fortune 500 telecommunications company. In his new role as vice president of social games, Revoy is responsible for leading RealGames' rapidly growing social games business.
Russell joined RealGames last year as vice president of engineering, bringing with him experience matched by only a handful of social technology leaders who have designed and built scalable platforms that can support hundreds of millions of simultaneous users. With more than 25 years of experience in the software industry, Russell came to RealGames from MySpace, where he oversaw the development and day-to-day management of successful engineering facilities delivering numerous products and services as vice president of engineering. In his new role as chief technology officer, Russell will oversee the integration of RealGames' expansive download, online, social and mobile gaming platforms and customer ecosystems.
"As the digital games segment continues to grow and evolve at an explosive pace, we believe the companies who effectively create, deliver and monetize the best games across vast customer ecosystems and multiple devices will emerge as market leaders," said John Barbour, president of RealGames. "Our team has helped establish RealGames as a leader in the download, online, social and mobile gaming segments worldwide, and we are excited to have Jeff and Wilf on board to help integrate and extend the significant groundwork already laid."
RealGames is a leader in the digital games industry worldwide and develops content across multiple platforms, with a vertically integrated development, publishing, licensing, distribution and retail business.
