Real-Time Event Based API for Financial Data Launched by Barchart

CHICAGO, May 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Barchart, a leading provider of financial market data and technology, has announced the release of a real-time event based API, a new managed service that brings cloud-based event monitoring and notifications to the financial marketplace. Barchart's event based API provides firms with the ability to easily integrate event based alerts, that use market data and related information, into their websites, software, mobile apps and internal systems. With the API, a firm can build its own interface around the service which then monitors user specified conditions in real-time and notifies the user via SMS, email and/or push notification when the condition is met. Simple conditions can be created such as alert me when the price or volume of a financial instrument crosses a specified level, news on a company is released or more sophisticated conditions can be created using technical and fundamental data or by stacking conditions together. As a cloud-based service built upon Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, this API offers a complete managed service for financial data monitoring and alerting that is auto-scalable, resilient and redundant throughout multiple AWS availability zones.

The service can monitor a wide variety of data, including price data, news, public company financials and ratios, and technical data like moving averages and stochastics. In terms of price data, the service can be applied to stocks, futures, options, forex, mutual funds, ETFs and indexes. The service can also be configured to monitor real-time, delayed or end-of-day data. As a web services based solution, the API is compatible with any operating system, such as Windows, Linux, iOS or Android, and any programming language, such as Java, PHP or ASP.NET.
