Real estate investors eager to buy at auction as bank inventories dwindle
ATLANTA, Nov. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Real estate investors and individuals turned out in large numbers for a flurry of six multi-property auctions in 10 days in Georgia and Florida. The auctions – which included homes, commercial properties, subdivision lots and other real estate – were managed by John Dixon & Associates.
"It's been quite a couple of weeks, with events in Pensacola, Atlanta, McDonough, Americus and Brunswick. At each one, we heard the same thing from bidders: They see a lot of opportunity for building up their real estate portfolios. But they realize time is running out, because the banks have sold most of the properties they acquired during the financial crash," said John Dixon, president of the auction company. The auctions brought a total of approximately $3.8 million.
"We'll finally get a break in the action, but we won't be resting, because our agents are already at work organizing events for early 2015," said Dixon. In fact, he said the company already has plans for a late-January auction, for which the company is accepting consignments.
"A lot of our sales during 2014 have been for individual institutions, but the one in late January will be open for anyone with real estate to sell. Individuals, investors and other sellers can put their properties in and sell them to the highest bidder. This is a good time for other sellers and portfolio owners to jump in, because supplies are running out and demand is still going strong," said Dixon.
