RBC Wealth Management - U.S. launches new digital storytelling initiative to attract female financial advisors
MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ - At a time when a large percentage of the current financial advisor force is drawing closer to retirement, RBC Wealth Management – U.S. aims to attract new talent to the business with a new digital storytelling initiative that shines a spotlight on the role of financial advisors and what it takes to become part of the industry.
The initiative kicks off with the release of a series of documentary-style videos highlighting some of the firm's most successful women financial advisors and the paths they traveled to get to where they are today. The women featured in the videos took disparate routes to their current positions. Some started out as rocket scientists, Beltway politicians, or translators for the Armed Forces, while others stepped into the business directly after college. Together, they speak to the common theme of the initiative: "Everyone's Path is Different. They All Can Lead Here."
"The need and opportunity for female financial advisors has never been greater," said Kristen Kimmell, chief of staff at RBC Wealth Management. "By highlighting the unique stories of some of the women who've built successful careers in this industry, we hope others will be inspired to take that first step down a similar career path."
Women, for a variety of factors, including longer life expectancy, will be the recipients of the majority of an estimated $3.2 trillion in wealth that will transfer to the next generation in the U.S. in the coming years. According to an Insured Retirement Institute study, 70% of women seeking advisors say they would prefer to work with a woman. However, global research and consulting firm Cerulli Associates reports that women currently constitute only 16% of the total advisor workforce.
"Adding more women to our advisor ranks is good for the industry, good for our business, but most of all, good for our clients," Kimmell said. "As a leader in diversity with a client-first culture, RBC is positioned to become the firm of choice for not only female financial advisors seeking to grow their business, but for women with established careers in other industries looking for a change."
