R&B Icon Charlie Wilson to Headline Wind Creek Wetumpka Entertainment Center Grand Opening
WETUMPKA, Ala., Sept. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Wind Creek Casino & Hotel Wetumpka (WCW) is slated to host Charlie Wilson for the inaugural concert in the newly completed Wind Creek Wetumpka Entertainment Center. The concert is scheduled for November 14th at 8 pm. Tickets prices start at forty-five dollars and are on sale September 22nd at ticketmaster.com or Essentials inside the casino.
A seven-time Grammy nominee, Charlie Wilson has been critically-acclaimed around the world for his live performance with sold-out shows in the United States, France and the UK. His numerous awards and accolades include a BET Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013 which will long be remembered as one of the finest tributes ever paid to a legend. It included India Arie, Stevie Wonder, Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dogg, Pharrell and Justin Timberlake.
Wilson has commanded center stage since his days as the lead vocalist for the GAP Band ("Outstanding," "You Dropped A Bomb On Me"). As a solo artist he has topped the Billboard charts with numerous hits including "Charlie, Last Name Wilson," "Magic," "There Goes My Baby," "Can't Live Without You," "You Are," "Life of the Party" and "My Love Is All I Have."
Wilson played to a sold out crowd earlier this year at WCW's sister property, Wind Creek Casino & Hotel Atmore. Wilson's November 14th show is expected to sell out quickly.
The Wind Creek Wetumpka Entertainment Center seats approximately 1,200 and is located adjacent to the WCW casino at 100 River Oaks Drive, Wetumpka. The new structure is approximately 23,000 square feet and houses pre-function and concession areas, a green room and kitchen.
