Raytheon's Patriot Production Line Hot Again
TEWKSBURY, Mass., Sept. 29, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) rolled out the first modernized Information Coordination Central since the combat-proven Patriot Air and Missile Defense System was redesigned as part of the resurgence of Patriot. The first two ICCs will soon be delivered to the Republic of Korea, and work has already begun on the new production Patriot for the United Arab Emirates and Taiwan.
Within the Patriot system, the ICC coordinates battalion and fire unit operations with higher echelon units to maximize lethality against air breathing and tactical ballistic missile targets.
"The modernized new production systems will have the benefit of significant engineering improvements, which increase reliability and reduce maintenance requirements," said Sanjay Kapoor, vice president of Patriot Programs at Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS). "We are pleased to have restarted our production line for these major Patriot orders. This is great news for our current and future partners who are determined to stay ahead of emerging threats to protect their nations."
Work on the ICC was performed at the Raytheon IDS Integrated Air Defense Center in Andover, Mass.
