Raytheon Facility Earns Cogswell Award for Outstanding Security Practices
LOUISVILLE, Ky., June 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company's (NYSE: RTN) Missile Systems facility in Louisville, Ky., was named a winner of the James S. Cogswell Award. The Defense Security Service (DSS) award represents world-class security practices.
"Every day, our country and its allies entrust us with information critical to protecting national security," said Dr. Taylor W. Lawrence, president of Raytheon Missile Systems. "Each member of our Louisville team has taken responsibility for their part in this endeavor. I'm very proud the Defense Security Service has recognized their dedication and achievement with the Cogswell Award."
The Cogswell Award is named in honor of the late Air Force Col. James S. Cogswell, the first chief of the unified office of Industrial Security. It is the highest honor the DSS can bestow on a cleared contractor for its National Industrial Security Program. Of the more than 13,000 cleared contractors, less than one percent are annually selected to receive this award.
"This national recognition follows Louisville's four consecutive superior security ratings by DSS, an almost unheard of accomplishment in this demanding and challenging environment," said Keith Stewart, site manager at the Louisville facility. "To earn the Cogswell Award highlights the vigilant and dedicated work of everyone at this site."
The more than 350 employees at the Louisville site manufacture the Phalanx Close-In Weapon System, the SeaRAM Anti-ship Missile Defense System, the Centurion Land-based Phalanx Weapon System and the Rolling Airframe Missile launcher.
