"Cleantech is thriving throughout the world and proving to now be a major driver of economic growth," said Christian Haeuselmann, Co-Founder and Chairman of the GCCA and Cluster Manager for swisscleantech who hosted this year's awards. "The 2014 winners are proving that companies innovating in the new green economy are both investable and thriving. It is an honor to highlight them as true examples of success in our growing industry."
Over 100 companies were nominated by the GCCA's cleantech member clusters for the 2014 Later Stage Awards. That number was later narrowed down to the Global Top 30 Semi-Finalists and then to the Top 10 Winners. The Global Top 30 were selected using the Keystone Compact™, an online business and venture assessment tool.
"This year's Global Top 10 consists of companies who hold technology and market strengths within their industry sectors, and are well positioned for market capture," said GCCA Head Judge Dr. Peter Adriaens, CEO of Keystone Compact Group, developer of the tool used to narrow GCCA nominations from 100 to 30. "Striving to build sustainable green economies and jobs, these companies demonstrate a particular type of investment criteria that makes them desirable to traditional equity investment."
