Ray LaSoya Joins Stroock as Chair of the Private Equity Practice Group

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, a national law firm with offices in New York, Los Angeles and Miami, announced today that Ray LaSoya has joined the firm as a Partner, effective immediately. Mr. LaSoya will be resident in the firm's Los Angeles office and will serve as the National Chair of Stroock's Private Equity Practice Group.

Mr. LaSoya has worked on a variety of complex corporate transactions, including tender offers, acquisitions and divestitures, public offerings and private equity investments. He counsels clients in the areas of public disclosure, reporting and corporate governance. He represents both public and private companies, including private equity investors and their portfolio companies, in their day-to-day legal affairs and in transactions across a broad range of industries.

Mr. LaSoya will head Stroock's increasingly active bi-coastal Private Equity Group that includes a number of Stroock's top corporate partners, and will work closely with Kris Hansen in New York, Co-head of Stroock's Financial Restructuring Practice, and Schuyler Moore and Matthew Thompson in Los Angeles, partners in Stroock's transactional Entertainment Group.

Mr. LaSoya comes to Stroock from the Los Angeles office of Hughes Hubbard & Reed, where he was co-chair of its Private Equity practice group. He received his undergraduate degree from Whittier College and his J.D. from Yale University.
