RAW Power For iOS: First App To Combine Raw Image Editing With Seamless iOS And iCloud Photo Library Integration
CUPERTINO, Calif., Nov. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Gentlemen Coders LLC, introduced RAW Power for iOS, a professional RAW photo app for iPhones and iPads running iOS 11. RAW Power for iOS builds on the success of RAW Power for Mac and uses Apple's RAW Engine to decode images and allow editing of RAW photos on the go, while also granting unprecedented access to the Photo Library on iOS 11. Available beginning today from the App Store, RAW Power for iOS is a free download with the option to add premium features such as Depth Effect, Curves and White Balance through a single in-app purchase of the Advanced Adjustment Pack for $9.99.
"We constantly hear from photographers how much they want to edit the RAW images in their iOS or iCloud photo libraries using the kind of advanced tools they are accustomed to using on the desktop," said Nik Bhatt, Founder of Gentlemen Coders and former lead of the Aperture and iPhoto teams. "Using our deep experience with Apple's RAW Engine, we have created a powerful, easy-to-use editing app that seamlessly integrates with the built-in Photo apps on iOS and Mac, allowing iOS users to keep their images in iCloud and maximizing integration with the Apple ecosystem."
Enhanced Photo Library Control
RAW Power provides full access to the Photo Library on iOS whether images are stored on the device or in iCloud. RAW Power introduces a new section called "Recents" which provides quick access to the images and albums most recently viewed at the top of the screen. In addition, users can view, create, delete and rename albums. At the photo level, when viewing the photo grid within an album, the app allows for sorting by date, sharing and favoriting images, removing images from the album view or deleting from the photo library entirely. RAW Power's Inspector provides quick access to albums, photo metadata and adjustments. Because the app is closely integrated with iOS and iCloud, all changes made to photos within RAW Power are immediately applied to the iOS photo library and synced to iCloud Photo Library.
RAW Processing and Easier Image Adjusting
The heart of RAW Power for iOS is its RAW Processing adjustment which unlocks the power of Apple's RAW Engine. RAW Processing includes eight sliders that give photographers unprecedented control over the look of the RAW image as well as helping with contrast and noise reduction. All adjustments are real-time and appear as soon as the slider is moved; simply double-tap a slider to reset it to default. RAW Power's Histogram includes clipping indicators which continuously compute overexposed areas of the image and then enables overlays to correct hot and cold pixels. RAW Power also lets users copy and paste adjustments between images. In addition, RAW Power has a high-performance, wide-gamut imaging engine that allows zooming up to 800%, so users can adjust even large RAW images with great precision. All adjustments are non-destructive, leaving the original file intact. RAW Power supports hundreds of RAW camera formats as well as DNG and iPhone RAW images.
Advanced Adjustment Pack
For those who want even more editing control over their images, RAW Power offers the Advanced Adjustment Pack which includes three additional adjustments: Depth Effect, Curves and White Balance. Depth Effect, designed to take advantage of the dual camera system on iOS devices such as iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X, allows for independent control of background and foreground shadows and highlights. Curves is a very powerful adjustment that allows precise manipulation of individual color channels. White Balance adjusts the image's color balance and tint. Both White Balance and Curves have samplers to allow users to tap on the image to select colors precisely.
Also Supports JPEGS and PNGs
RAW Power can also be used on a wide range of formats including JPEG and PNG files, providing users with access to White Balance, Curves, Sharpen, and other tools missing from the built-in Photos app. Also, Mac users can start editing on the desktop and continue on iOS, or vice-versa, using RAW Power for Mac, a well-reviewed app and extension for Photos first released in 2016.
