"Raw Faith" Premieres on Documentary Channel This Spring
This Intimate And Revealing Look Inside The Private Life, Love, And Faith Of An Outspoken Female Minister Makes Its Television Debut In May 2012
NASHVILLE, Tenn., March 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Documentary Channel (DOC) is proud to announce the US television premiere of director Peter Wiedensmith's award-winning documentary film "Raw Faith" on Sunday, May 20 (8p ET/PT). Called "refreshing" by the New York Times, "Raw Faith" is a poignant portrait of a beloved, but lonely, minister as she examines her faith, questions her ability to love, and comes face-to-face with her deepest doubts and fears. With an original theme song, "Love Will Remain," by Grammy Award-winning recording artist Sheryl Crow, "Raw Faith" is a unique love story for our time, one that delivers a thought-provoking, bitter-sweet journey.
"Raw Faith" follows two years in the private life of minister Marilyn Sewell. A beloved fixture in her community in Portland, Oregon, Sewell has re-energized her congregation, finding great success and professional fulfillment at the pulpit. But behind the scenes she is lonely and longing for change. Viewers follow Sewell on a tumultuous journey as she decides to retire from her ministry (her only social network), falls in love for the first time and makes the painful discovery that she does not trust intimacy. "Raw Faith" is a powerful study in contrasts, and Sewell must rely on raw faith as she questions her future, her difficult past, her God, and most important, her ability to love.
Sewell allows her life to unfold in front of the camera with striking emotional transparency, sharing her trials with candor, humor and wisdom, ultimately leading her to an unexpected revelation of faith and love in all of its guises.
Documentary Channel is primarily available through satellite television services DISH Network (Channel 197) and DIRECTV (Channel 267).
