EUGENE, Ore., Aug. 28, 2018 Rave Reviews, the innovative site that publishes entertaining guides and rankings based on advanced data-driven analysis, has published its ranking of the "50 Most Beautiful Movies." The ranking is available at https://www.ravereviews.org/entertainment/most-beautiful-movies/.
The movies featured in the ranking represent almost a century of cinema, spanning from "Nosferatu" (released in 1922) to "Coco" (released in 2017). The list includes films from a wide variety of genres and from numerous countries, including Japan, France, and Italy as well as the United States.
The author of the ranking, Gabe Sealey-Morris, chose to include only one film per director. "I wanted to create a kind of cross-section of cinematic history," Sealey-Morris said. "There are, of course, some big names that tend to dominate 'top movie' lists, like Kubrick and Hitchcock and Scorsese. So while those directors do appear on the ranking, I also made a point of looking for movies and directors that don't always get the recognition that they deserve."
The methodology for the 50 Most Beautiful Movies ranking included a combination of objective and subjective factors. The objective factors included IMDb scores and Rotten Tomatoes scores. For the subjective factors, Sealey-Morris took into account Visual Appeal, Technical Innovation, Music Integration, and Production Design and Costuming.
