FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Feb. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Rave Mobile Safety (Rave), the trusted software partner for campus and public safety, today reported strong growth in 2014, highlighted by numerous milestones including seven consecutive years of more than 30 percent growth and a continued trend of institutions moving to its technology to upgrade their safety infrastructure. Rave's solutions are used by thousands of public and campus safety organizations in every U.S. state, building upon a market leadership position that is punctuated by a 99 percent customer retention rate.
Examples of the many 2014 milestones achieved by Rave include:
Higher Education
- Added more than 200 new customers including Stanford University, University of Oklahoma, University of Arkansas and the University of Nebraska.
- Introduced latest version of the Rave Guardian, with over 40 new colleges and universities deploying the award-winning and most widely deployed campus safety mobile app.
- Sent nearly 200 million timely emergency notification messages through Rave Alert at the industry's fastest and most reliable mobile device delivery rate.
Improved Communication & Situational Awareness for 9-1-1 and Responders
- Smart911 processed more than 14 million 9-1-1 calls this past year, enabling emergency responders to save victims encountering medical emergencies, trapped in house fires, rescue stranded motorists during storms, prevent domestic violence, locate missing persons and more.
- Expanded Smart911 network to portions of 40 states, including key new clients such as Sussex County (Del.), Edgefield County (S.C.), City of Tempe (Ariz.), Bridgeport (Conn.) and Montgomery County (Ala.).
- Delivered an integrated citizen communication platform, allowing agencies to provide their constituents with a single place to manage both their Safety Profiles and emergency notification preferences. Communities such as Nassau County (N.Y.), Eaton County (Mich.), and the City of Muncie (Ind.) upgraded from their previous emergency notification solution to the integrated Smart911 and Rave Alert solution.
- Working in close partnership with 9-1-1 public safety answering points (PSAPs), agencies and schools, Rave Panic Button was developed and deployed. The only solution designed for use in all types of school emergencies, especially active shooter incidents, it creates a direct audio connection between 9-1-1 and the caller while simultaneously notifying designated personnel.
- Rave continued to invest in infrastructure security and performance, successfully completing a third-party security audit and doubling messaging capacity and throughput.
Honors and Awards
- Rave won the prestigious Gold Stevie Award in the "New Software Product or Service of the Year" category for Smart911Connect. The first program connecting third parties to the emergency response process, Smart911Connect enables solution providers to develop new products and applications, providing the only pipeline into supported 9-1-1 centers.
- Rave's innovation was recognized through the granting of three additional patents for its life-saving technology.
"The Rave Guardian App offers features that are ideal for the mobile lifestyle of an active university community," said Chief Jeff McCracken, director of public safety at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). "The ability to create a virtual safety network that enlists friends and peers is tremendous, and students' parents also appreciate that they can be part of this process. With a quick tap, the 'panic button' puts users directly in touch with UNC Police, and 'Safety Profiles' include data that greatly improves responders' ability to locate individuals and more effectively provide for their specific needs. Most importantly, Rave has defined campus safety technology: their resources are the most proven in the industry, and they continue to raise the bar."
"Smart911 allows us to provide an even higher level of emergency service to residents while also enhancing officer safety. The more information we are able to gather about any situation enables responders to make better decisions more quickly when lives and property are at risk," said Nassau County Executive, Edward Mangano. Acting Police Commissioner, Thomas Krumpter, added; "Smart911 streamlines the time necessary to illicit critical information and allows faster assignment and dispatch of responders to call locations with more information to assist the residents quickly."
"Our continued growth and success reflects an endorsement by our clients and partners, as well as an on-going commitment to setting the standard in safety technology," said Tom Axbey, president and CEO of Rave Mobile Safety. "Our clients are entrusted with the well-being of others. We are thrilled to be a part of that mission, and with their invaluable input, we'll continue to develop new technology that will ensure they have the best-possible tools to achieve their goals."
