FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Aug. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Rave Mobile Safety (Rave), provider of critical communication and data platform solutions trusted to save lives, today reported continued state and local customer growth across the nation. In the past year, Rave garnered a 125 percent increase in state and local Rave Alert customers.
For emergency managers newly switching to Rave's emergency notification solutions, Rave Alert easily sends notifications that will be delivered to an accurate list in seconds. More than 3,100 communities across 50 states trust Rave in an emergency to help save lives. These communities count on the Rave platform's ease of use, performance and data management to better respond to emergencies.
Protecting 500,000 at the Kentucky Derby
In August 2015, the City of Louisville selected Rave Alert to power its LENS (Louisville Emergency Notification System) Alert solution. With one text, the 500,000 Kentucky Derby attendees could opt-in to receive Derby specific notifications. Rave Alert provided an easy way to send targeted and broad communications throughout the city's festival season to visitors and residents of event updates and potential emergencies.
"The flexibility of Rave's solution gave us all peace of mind when more than half a million individuals came into the city for the Kentucky Derby," said Mitchell Burmeister, public information officer at Louisville Metro Emergency Services. "We trust the solution to aid us in day-to-day communications, large scale events and everything in between."
Protecting Vulnerable Populations During Severe Weather in Suffolk County, New York
Since Suffolk County, NY became a Rave Alert customer, the county has experienced several severe weather events including superstorm Sandy and snowstorm Nemo, during which Rave's technology was instrumental in saving lives.
"By using Rave's technology, we can notify the most at risk individuals in specific geographic locations to alert them of what's coming their way," said Joel Vetter, chief emergency support services for Suffolk County, Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services (NY). "In Suffolk County, we've had great success leveraging Rave's two-way communication functionality. Through that technology, we've seen a better prepared community for emergency situations. Without this technology citizens would not have otherwise been aware of, and taken action."
Coordinating Resources with Internal Notifications as Severe Weather Strikes in North Platte, Nebraska
North Platte, Nebraska added Rave Alert to its platform in 2016. Located in the Midwest, an area particularly susceptible to severe weather, the city primarily uses the technology to coordinate internal resources and notify communities of dangerous weather conditions such as tornadoes. The technology is also used heavily for internal communications to alert individuals of severe weather and closures.
"Making the switch to Rave Alert seemed like the best option for our community," said Mary Ann Agler, telecommunications supervisor for the North Platte Police Department. "We primarily use Rave Alert for internal communications and weather notifications. Integrating this new technology was seamless with the help of the Rave team."
To make it easier to transition from a previous provider to Rave Alert, Rave created the Head Start Transition Package. With a courtesy transition period of three-to-six months, communities can leverage this time to set-up and train all employees prior to launching, promote the new system to current alert registrants and import all essential information from a previous vendor. This seamless transition offering also includes a community outreach package with tools to drive alert registrations and community engagement. This includes customized templates, promotional tools and best practices guides to drive participation.
"Switching to a new notification provider can be daunting, especially when you've spent a lot of time and effort getting individuals into your previous database," said Tom Axbey, president and CEO at Rave. "We've use our years of experience to make the transition as simple as possible. Additionally, we have a devoted staff ready to help customers make the shift from their previous emergency notification vendor."
Solutions from Rave Mobile Safety have been adopted in several other cities, counties and states nationwide including, Seattle, WA, Cook County, IL, Rockland, MA, Union County, SC, Winchester, KY, and Montgomery County, TX.
