Rauzier Hyperphotos Exhibition Opens at NYC's Goldman Projects Space
NEW YORK, April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- A major new work, based on the Congressional Library in Washington DC, is one of 24 'Hyperphotos' included in the Jean-Francois Rauzier exhibition at New York's Goldman Projects Space, opening on 7th May. Entitled Bibliotheque 3, the specially created work amalgamates over 1,000 images Rauzier took of the famous Congressional Library and features many greats from the artist's own Pantheon of ancient and modern history including Moses, Plato, Columbus, Bach, Napoleon, Einstein, Rodin's Thinker and the Beatles. It is the third in Rauzier's series of visions of his ideal library; the first two have sold out.

Mounting anticipation about the exhibition has seen collectors and art lovers from both the U.S. and Europe registering interest in seeing the unique images in the show, some of them on view for the first time, with a number of pre-sales already being recorded. Open from 7th to 29th May, this is the inaugural exhibition at the new, purpose built Goldman Projects Space in Manhattan, brainchild of the city's highly regarded community preservation developer Tony Goldman.
Ray Waterhouse, Chairman of London art dealers Waterhouse & Dodd, who are mounting the exhibition in partnership with Tony Goldman, said there was a strong and growing buzz about the artist and his work: "Rauzier's Paris museum show in April generated rave reviews and we sold out an entire edition of his work on the first day of The European Fine Art Fair in Maastricht, the world's most important art fair."
Waterhouse also revealed that the artist will be holding three talks, on Friday 7th, Saturday 8th and Monday 10th May, during which he will give insight and detail about his work, his artistic vision and his unique approach. "People who are interested in attending one of the talks should get in touch as soon as possible, as places are very limited," said Waterhouse.
Rauzier's works are groundbreaking; they combine the big picture and close-up to open up new pictorial possibilities in composition and scale. The Hyperphotos, all C-Type photographic prints of extremely high quality in editions of eight, are executed in a format that can be printed as large as 30 feet by 10 feet without degrading the image, though in the show they are a more manageable size, usually 56 x 98 inches.
Each finished work by Rauzier assembles between 600 and 3,500 close-up images. Once the entire scene is captured, Rauzier stitches them together seamlessly to create a new vision of the world incorporating his unique combination of imagination, artistic skill, technical genius and knowledge of art and literature.
"When you are looking at a Hyperphoto, at first you think you are looking at an enlargement of a panoramic photograph. Not quite. Look more closely and you absorb a strange atmosphere that distances the viewer from the real world and pulls you into a universe of dizzying amplitude," Rauzier said.
