Rate of IT Employment Growth Continued to Decelerate in September
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- While IT employment grew for the 25th consecutive month, the rate of growth has continued to decelerate.
The number of IT jobs grew 0.11 percent sequentially last month to 4,513,300, according to TechServe Alliance, the national trade association of the IT & Engineering Staffing and Solutions industry. On a year-over-year basis, IT employment has grown by 5.88% since September 2012 adding 250,000 IT workers.
"While demand for IT professionals remains strong, the rate of IT employment growth has slowed over the last quarter," stated Mark Roberts, CEO of TechServe Alliance. "The deceleration is no doubt attributable to multiple factors including some increased caution on the part of businesses and uncertainty associated with policy disputes in Washington, DC," added Roberts.
