MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited1 private college, today announced two upcoming events as well as the launch of a new animated infographic on social media security in recognition of National Cyber Security Awareness Month. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's annual campaign is designed to raise awareness about the importance of cyber security as well as provide the public with tools and resources needed to be safe online. This year, Rasmussen College will host two cyber security awareness events–the first on Tue., Oct. 24 in the Twin Cities and the second on Wed., Oct. 25 in Tampa to help students, staff and community members learn how to protect their digital identity from cyber-crime. Both events are free and open to the public.
"In today's increasingly online world, we are reminded, almost daily, that we must be attentive to our personal information. And while we can't fully escape cyber criminals, we can educate ourselves about their ways and work to make their jobs more difficult," said Jennifer Ayotte, department dean for the Rasmussen College School of Technology. "As a College, we not only equip our School of Technology students with the knowledge needed to protect priceless information in their professional lives but we're also committed to educating our entire student population as well as the communities we serve so that they don't feel powerless against cyber-crimes. There are steps we can and should take to protect ourselves and our loved ones, which is why Rasmussen College is pleased to offer these free events and resources as part of National Cyber Security Awareness Month."
