MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to help meet the increasing demand for nurses in Minnesota and North Dakota, Rasmussen College has added the Professional Nursing (RN) Associate's degree program at its Moorhead campus. The College also launched the Mobility Bridge Transfer option, allowing LPNs to transfer in credits and quickly progress to an Associate's Degree in Nursing. "The expansion of the nursing degree program is an example of Rasmussen College's commitment to providing students a strong foundation to enter and thrive in the workplace," said John Smith-Coppes, Moorhead Campus President. "Adding the Associate's Degree and Mobility Bridge Transfer option at the Moorhead campus will allow Rasmussen College to enhance and educate current LPN nurses and students seeking a registered nursing career to meet the increasing complexity of care needs in Minnesota and North Dakota."
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of registered nurses needed in Minnesota and North Dakota is expected to grow 22 percent by 2020, with an estimated 2,500 job openings annually between the two states.
Professional Nursing Associate's Degree
Rasmussen's Professional Nursing Associate's degree is the path to a registered nursing career. With curriculum that includes National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) prep work in all degree courses, students leave the program prepared to pass the NCLEX-RN exam and start working as registered nurses.
Mobility Bridge Entrance Option: From LPN to RN
The Professional Nursing Associate's Mobility Bridge Transfer option provides a pathway for current LPNs to obtain an RN Associate's degree in as little as 12 to 18 months. LPN students can transfer credits from previous academic and work experience, allowing them to more efficiently advance from one degree to the next.
Students interested in applying are encouraged to attend a nursing information session at the Moorhead campus or visit http://www.rasmussen.edu/nursing-session-form/.
