MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college and Public Benefit Corporation, today launched a Supply Chain and Logistics Management Bachelor's degree-completion program—helping to meet the need for more highly skilled supply chain professionals and a more educated workforce. The program will help students collaborate with others in a global economy by developing skills such as purchasing, transportation and warehouse management that are critical for directing the flow of goods from supplier to consumer. Students can complete the program in as few as 18 months by taking advantage of up to six self-paced, competency-based courses offered at no additional cost through the College's Flex Choice learning option—saving students up to 27 percent on tuition. Enrollment for the Supply Chain and Logistics Management program is immediately available with classes beginning in April.
"At Rasmussen College, we are committed to meeting business demands by helping to train and supply a more skilled workforce," said Brooks Doherty, dean of the School of Business at Rasmussen College. "Our new Supply Chain and Logistics Management program is designed for motivated, working professionals with successful education experience and will help them advance their careers by gaining key supply chain and logistics leadership skills while earning a bachelor's degree in a field that is in high demand."
Supply Chain and Logistics Professionals in High Demand
Successful companies rely on the skills of supply chain management professionals to keep their goods and services flowing to the marketplace quickly, efficiently and as cost-effectively as possible. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), logisticians are expected to see 22 percent employment growth by 2022—far above the national average of 11 percent growth rate for all occupations. The 22 percent growth rate is projected to add more than 150,000 jobs for logisticians. Other top supply chain positions include production managers, buyers and purchasing agents.
"It's become common knowledge across all industries that companies want to transform their supply chains from tactical to strategic—meaning they are no longer just focused on processing goods out the door, but also doing it as quickly and cost-effectively as possible," said Ryan Repich, School of Business faculty member at Rasmussen College and supply chain director at Ultrafab, a global leader in sealing technologies. "The challenge is many companies lack the knowledge to accomplish this, which is why more companies and organizations are looking for employees with a supply chain and logistics management degree to help drive that change."
