Rasmussen College Gives Back During Eighth Annual Community Service Day

MINNEAPOLIS, July 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/-- Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college, will give back to its local communities on Friday during the College's eighth annual Community Service Day. Approximately 1,200 employees and students from its 23 campuses and three central offices will participate in the national service day event. Through this annual effort, staff and students will volunteer more than 4,500 hours in just one 24-hour period.

"Rasmussen College has a proud tradition of giving back to its communities," said Dr. Trenda Boyum-Breen, president of Rasmussen College. "On top of our annual service day event, we offer paid time off to our employees to volunteer so they can connect with local organizations and make a broader impact on our communities."

Between 2014 and 2015, Rasmussen College employees donated more than 22,000 hours of community service.

Campus and Central Office Participation
During this year's Community Service Day, Rasmussen College employees and students will perform a variety of tasks, from landscaping and weeding at schools and nonprofit organizations, to hosting a car and dog wash, to leading activities and games for children.

Minnesota
This year, employees and students from the College's eight Minnesota campuses and Twin Cities Central Office will partner with several organizations, including Cornerstone, Good in the Hood, Matter, VEAP, The Family Partnership, Hospitality House Youth Development, Catholic Charities of St. Cloud, Simon Says Give, Community Emergency Assistance Program (CEAP), CoCo's Heart Dog Rescue and Relay for Life of Blue Earth County.

Illinois
Employees from the College's four Illinois campuses and the Chicago Central Office will volunteer their time at various organizations, including the Rockford Public Library, Cornerstone Services, The Cancer Support Center and Feed My Starving Children.

Florida
The College's five Florida campuses and employees from the Orlando Central Office have partnered with local organizations, including Child Care of Southwest Florida, West Pasco Habitat for Humanity, Hillsborough Education Foundation, Dr. N.H. Jones Elementary School, Ronald McDonald House at Arnold Palmer Medical Center and Gulfside Hospice Care.

Wisconsin
In Wisconsin, employees and students from the College's three campuses will volunteer their time at Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Fox Valley Region, Green Bay Botanical Garden and Blessings in a Backpack.

Fargo-Moorhead
This year, employees from the Fargo and Moorhead campuses will volunteer their time at the YWCA Cass Clay Emergency Shelter.

Kansas
The College's two campuses in Kansas will partner with local organizations, including Growing Futures Early Education Center and the Topeka Zoo.
