Rasmussen College Celebrates Graduates And Growth At New, Larger Venue
Rasmussen College Graduation to be held June 16 at Minneapolis Convention Center
MINNEAPOLIS, June 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Rasmussen College will celebrate the graduation of approximately 1,800 students from its five Twin Cities campuses and Rasmussen College Online at a new, larger venue on Saturday, June 16, 2012. Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college focused on delivering career-focused education, will host this year's commencement ceremony at the Minneapolis Convention Center at 11 a.m.
The graduates, who all completed their required coursework during the past six months, will be presented certificates, diplomas, associate's and bachelor's degrees from the Schools of Business, Criminal Justice, Education, Health Sciences, Nursing and Technology and Design.

Secretary of State Mark Ritchie will deliver the keynote address at the commencement ceremony. Ritchie has a long and distinguished history of service in the state of Minnesota. In addition to serving as Secretary of State, Ritchie also serves on the State Executive Council, the State Board of Investment, and the Twin Cities Army Community Advisory Board and on the Board of the Minnesota Historical Society. He was recently appointed by Governor Dayton to co-chair the Civil War Commemoration Task Force.
Theresa Barden, a justice studies student with an emphasis in psychology from the Rasmussen College Blaine Campus was selected as this year's student speaker. A young mother, Barden balanced work, school and family while maintaining a 3.5 GPA throughout her academic career. In her final quarter at Rasmussen College, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. However, despite losing feeling in one of her hands and a hospitalization, she stayed focused, completing all her coursework and earned an impressive 3.91 GPA in her final quarter.
