MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In an ongoing commitment to make a higher education more accessible, Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college and Public Benefit Corporation, today announced a tuition reduction and added flexibility for two of its most in-demand fields of study—business management and nursing. The College is now offering a newly redesigned Business Management Bachelor's degree for $9,900 for students who already have an Associate's degree in any field of study, making it one of the most affordable business degrees in the country. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, the average tuition for a two-year degree at private for-profit and not-for-profit institutions ranges in price from $27,000 to $48,000. At the same time, the College is rolling out its Flex Choice learning option to its Practical Nursing, Professional Nursing and Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) degree programs, allowing students to complete some of their general education courses in a self-paced format and at no additional cost—saving them up to 29 percent on tuition.
"At Rasmussen College, we believe a college education should be accessible to all students, which is why we are making two of our most in-demand fields of study more affordable and flexible," said Dr. Trenda Boyum-Breen, chief academic officer and incoming president at Rasmussen College. "We're thrilled to continue providing students with a strong college investment. By reducing tuition and expanding Flex Choice, the College's self-paced, competency-based learning option, our programs better meet the needs of today's students and help them advance their careers faster."
$9,900 Business Management Bachelor's Degree-Completion Program
The most versatile degree at Rasmussen College is immediately available for as little as $9,900 with classes beginning in February. The affordable tuition represents a 63 percent tuition reduction from the traditional Business Management Bachelor's degree-completion program at Rasmussen College. Students who qualify will not be required to pay any additional costs such as book or technology fees. To achieve the reduced tuition, students must have an Associate's degree in any field of study and must also complete six self-paced, competency-based courses offered through the Flex Choice format. Flex Choice combines faculty-led courses with self-paced, competency-based courses offered at no additional cost—saving students money and allowing business management students to graduate in as few as 18 months.
Along with the tuition reduction, Rasmussen College recently redesigned its business management curriculum to better emphasize skills that are most relevant to today's employers. Students will develop technical expertise as well as proficiency in business research and analysis, project management, business intelligence tools and other 21st-century skills—ensuring they are prepared to work and excel in today's competitive job market. Students will also get the opportunity to participate in capstone course projects with an internship option, examine case studies from Harvard Business Publishing and take part in live interactive lectures to gain firsthand experience as a business professional.
"The high-quality Business Management Bachelor's degree at Rasmussen College is truly all about the return on investment for students," said Matt Petz, vice president of academic affairs at Rasmussen College. "Our competitors charge anywhere from $19,000 to $37,000 for the last two years of their Business Management Bachelor's degree programs. At just $9,900 and with the newly redesigned technology-infused curriculum, our Business Management Bachelor's degree-completion program represents a valuable and affordable investment that is truly unique in the market."
Flex Choice Learning Option Expands to Nursing Programs
The Practical Nursing (LPN), Professional Nursing (RN) and RN to BSN degree programs at Rasmussen College are immediately available* in the Flex Choice format with classes beginning in April. Depending on which nursing program they enroll in, students will have the option to take up to six self-paced, competency-based general education courses alongside their faculty-led courses at no cost. That adds up to tuition savings ranging from 19 to 29 percent.
"As the demand for high-quality nurses continues to grow in the U.S., it's crucial Rasmussen College provide affordable and accessible nursing programs that meet the needs of today's students," said Joan Rich, vice president of the School of Nursing at Rasmussen College. "Nursing programs are demanding, with students balancing class time with labs and clinicals. Flex Choice allows students to complete some of the course work at their own pace and on their own time, making the programs more flexible and, in turn, making a nursing degree more accessible."
