Raritan to Speak on Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) at Technology Convergence Conference
-- Knowing where data center resources are located and how they are performing go a long way to improve energy efficiency, uptime performance and extending the life of data centers --
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- At the annual Technology Convergence Conference being held here, Raritan will be presenting DCIM customer case studies and demonstrating its smart rack solutions that provide accurate, real-time information on infrastructure performance, so that customers can manage their data centers more efficiently and reduce costs.
Raritan, a platinum sponsor of the conference, will be speaking today in two sessions:
Nabeel Mahmood, Director of Power Management Infrastructure at Raritan, will be speaking at 1 pm on "Show Your Data Center Who's Boss - Intelligent Data Center Asset Management."
Mahmood will share how better asset management can lead to huge cost reductions. He also will discuss how data center professionals can:
- Take a holistic approach to managing data centers using a DCIM solution.
- Use intelligent asset management to better locate data center space capacity.
- Locate assets accurately with implementation of an electronic asset management system.
- Prevent costly mistakes resulting from unauthorized changes.
- Deploy best practices for managing assets.
David Eastman, Senior Manager-Data Center Infrastructure at Broadcom, and Henry Hsu, Director-Power Management Architecture at Raritan, will be presenting at 3:30 pm the "Broadcom Case Study - Optimizing Rack Density in a New Co-Location Environment."
During their latest data center expansion, Broadcom, the leading communications semiconductor manufacturer, found 10kW/cabinet to be an ideal design for sourcing and deploying racks in co-location environments. In this "best practices" presentation, Eastman and Hsu will discuss the electrical, cooling, planning, and DCIM monitoring tools deployed by Broadcom to optimize server placement for this "sweet spot."
Raritan's smart rack solutions will be demonstrated in Booth #24.
To provide a complete and accurate picture of IT resources in a rack and their health, Raritan's intelligent rack PDUs, environmental sensors, and smart asset tracking sensors and tags have built-in intelligence to measure, monitor and track activities. A smart rack can tell data center professionals how much energy each server is consuming, if a server is moved, if there's enough capacity to add a new server to the rack, and if the environment is at the target temperature.
Raritan's DCIM software solution pulls together and analyzes the intelligence gathered by smart racks. As a result, customers gain a more accurate and clearer picture of their infrastructure -- across all data center racks globally.
