Rapid Development Puts Equatorial Guinea on the Map
WASHINGTON, March 2 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Equatorial Guinea is a country worth visiting, according to Mark Blaisse, author of www.markblaisse.com. In a recent post, "Postcard from Malabo," Blaisse says the rapid development in the country keeps visitors "surprised during every visit."
New roads, harbors, container terminals, hospitals, bridges, airports, hotels, schools, and private and social housing are a few of the many developments occurring in the country. The presence of foreign workers has led to more work for the locals, all in highly safe surroundings. "One can walk the streets at night without fearing scenes like in Lagos, Nairobi or Johannesburg," Blaisse writes in his post.
According to Blaisse, the geostrategic position of Equatorial Guinea and the fact that the country is experiencing the longest period of peace in the area, positions the country to be the "wise[est] leader of the energy rich Gulf."
Equatorial Guinea is slated to host the African Union summit in 2011 and co-host the African Nations Cup in 2012.
