Randstad US hiring for more than 25,000 jobs ahead of the holiday season
Staffing firm reveals 2018's hottest seasonal hiring markets and jobs
ATLANTA, Sept. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Randstad US today announced it is currently hiring for more than 25,000 seasonal jobs across the country ahead of what is expected to be a busy holiday season for many industries. The positions span a wide variety of job types and skills, with both recruitment and hiring taking place in the next few months, as online shopping and earlier retail sales have extended the holiday shopping season.
Here are the job markets with the most open positions:
- Hebron, KY
- Columbus, OH
- Memphis, TN
- Nashville, TN
- Charlotte, NC
- Chicago, IL
- Los Angeles, CA
- Phoenix, AZ
- Minneapolis, MN
- Dallas, TX
There are a wide variety of open jobs in these and other locations, but some of the most in-demand roles are:
- Warehouse support, including forklift operators, quality control workers and shipment pickers/packers: People have become increasingly comfortable with online shopping, but they've also come to expect that their orders will be delivered faster than ever before — and that's driving up headcount at warehouses and distribution centers everywhere.
- Customer service agents and call center representatives: In today's always-connected world, many customers in the U.S. will stop doing business with a company as a result of poor customer service, so businesses are gearing up to make sure they have staff on hand to handle all inquiries — quickly and diplomatically — once the holiday season gets in full swing.
- Finance and accounting professionals: Complex year-end close and reconciliation processes are among the many reasons that finance and accounting professionals find themselves cyclically in such high demand.
"With the rise in e-commerce, we've seen a shift in how companies with seasonal business cycles hire additional workers to prepare for the holiday rush," said Greg Dyer, president of Randstad's commercial staffing business. "Instead of more in-person retail workers, we're seeing companies greatly increase their hiring for customer service roles like call center representatives. We're also seeing high demand for warehouse support workers, especially to help process and fulfill online orders."
