Randstad Technologies Reaches Another Technology Deployment Milestone: Over 160,000 Devices Installed across more than 30,000 Locations
Major retailers turn to 20-year Technology Deployment Veteran to Prepare for October 2015 Chip and PIN deadline
ATLANTA, Oct. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- For more than 20 years, organizations of all sizes have turned to Randstad Technologies' Technology Deployment Services (TDS) practice for large-scale point-of-sale (POS) deployment projects. The technology talent and solutions firm has installed over 160,000 devices in more than 30,000 locations in its history, continuing to demonstrate market leadership in large-scale POS and technology deployments.
Some of Randstad Technologies' clients include large major retailers, hotel chains, restaurants, the world's largest telecommunications companies, nationwide banking groups and entertainment venues.
"Our TDS practice systematically manages complex integration programs where installation activities are performed in a single location or repeated across multiple locations," said Dick Mitchell, solutions director of Technology Deployment Services at Randstad Technologies.
For large retailers, the company installs POS equipment such as PIN pads, registers, kiosks, digital signage, APs, scanners, routers, and switches.
"When retailers have large, complex needs for technology installations, they call us," said Mitchell. "They know we have the expertise, talent and quality processes to accomplish every stage of the project – from planning to installation to post-cut support."
This will be particularly important as retail organizations transition to comply with the Europay-Mastercard-Visa (EMV) initiative. Retailers have until October 15, 2015 to make the transition or risk incurring liability for any fraudulent card activity. In 2015, the liability in the U.S. is estimated to total more than $10 billion.
The EMV initiative, expressed as Chip and PIN, has been widely adopted elsewhere in the world. It's driven down credit card fraud in France for example, which claims an 80 percent reduction. The chip embedded in a smartcard generates a unique single-use code for every transaction, rendering a hack to acquire credit card data unsuccessful. Chip and PIN's proven success at reducing fraud is driving this liability deadline.
"Banks are beginning to issue Chip and PIN credit cards, but with the exception of some very large brands, retailers are not moving quickly toward the transition," Mitchell said. "Moving to Chip and PIN is a major upgrade, there's no doubt about it. But retailers who fail to make the transition could end up spending much more on settling fraud claims than they would have on implementing the new technology."
"There are roughly 15 million PIN pads to replace across the U.S. If you're a retailer and don't have a clear plan to transition to Chip and PIN, you need help, and we can provide that. Let's make sure you're on the right path to keep the impending liability shift at bay."
Randstad Technologies will be hosting a webinar titled, "Chip and PIN deadline: The clock is ticking!" on October 15. Jim Wedeking, technologies director of solutions for Randstad Technologies, will discuss the high liabilities organizations face if failing to make the switch to Chip and PIN.
