Random House Children's Books releases free app inspired by the #1 New York Times bestselling book WONDER and 365 DAYS OF WONDER by R. J. Palacio!
THE DAILY WONDER APP is now available on the App Store for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch!
NEW YORK, July 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Random House Children's Books, has released THE DAILY WONDER APP, it was announced today by Barbara Marcus, President & Publisher. Available now on the App Store for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch, the app is inspired by the #1 New York Times bestselling book Wonder and 365 Days of Wonder: Mr. Browne's Book of Precepts by R. J. Palacio.
With 3 million copies in print and well over 150 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list—and still counting—WONDER has been an extraordinary publishing story since its release in 2012. The book's core message to Choose Kind has reached the hearts of readers of all ages across the country.
Wonder introduced readers to the memorable English teacher Mr. Browne and his love of precepts—principles to live by. 365 Days of Wonder inspired readers with a year's worth of precepts, a collection of daily quotes and words of wisdom from such notable figures as Anne Frank, Confucius, and Nelson Mandela, along with over 100 Wonder readers who sent Palacio their own precepts. Now, THE DAILY WONDER APP brings those precepts to a new mobile and interactive platform that encourages users to share their inspiration with others and celebrate the goodness and strength of people's hearts every day of the year.
Users will be given access to seven days of precepts at any given time, with a new precept from 365 Days of Wonder becoming available every day. Additional features include daily reminders, social sharing (ages 12+), a short bio of the author of each precept, a calendar view, a book section with extended excerpts and praise, and a resource section for Wonder classroom materials.
THE DAILY WONDER APP is available for free on the App Store for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.
"I have been so moved by the response of readers around the world to the Choose Kind message started by Auggie in Wonder," says Palacio. "I love that the app will enable readers to share daily messages of kindness with friends and family and to each other, every day. I also want to say, as a former graphic designer – the app is beautiful to look at!"
"The Daily Wonder App will continue to extend the message of Wonder, the extraordinary book that has inspired countless young readers, families, stores, schools, communities—and even states—to take a positive stance on kindness and embrace difference. We couldn't be more pleased to make the app available to the many loyal Wonder fans and those who will soon discover it," says Marcus.
Since the original publication of Wonder, Palacio's publishing program has grown to spotlight Auggie Pullman and his friends in the form of three e-originals. Last year, readers were given a special look at another side of Auggie's story with the publication of The Julian Chapter e-original. Since then, R. J. Palacio has given her readers a chance to also hear from Auggie's friends Christopher and Charlotte in two additional e-originals, Pluto and Shingaling. And on August 18, 2015, Random House Children's Books will publish the three e-originals together in print for the first time, titled Auggie & Me: Three Wonder Stories.
In addition, The Wonder Journal will be released on July 14, 2015, and together with Auggie & Me, is available now for preorder. The journal is filled with quotes from the book and blank pages for fans to fill with their own precepts, stories, and thoughts.
Executive Editor Erin Clarke continues to edit Palacio for Knopf.
R. J. PALACIO (@RJPalacio) resides in New York City with her husband, two sons, and two dogs. Her debut novel was the #1 New York Times bestselling Wonder.
