SKOKIE, Ill., July 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Rand McNally proudly announces the promotional sponsors of the inaugural Best of the Road guide and Best of the Road Rally: Saab Cars North America, Country Inns & Suites By Carlson, Fleetwood RV, Destination Marketing Association International and Shell. Driving from metro New York to Los Angeles in a mix of Saab 9-3s, 9-5s and the new 9-4X crossover cars fueled by Shell, the no. 1 selling gasoline brand in the U.S., teams are tasked with finding the best small towns in America. The McNavigators, Gone with the Wynns, TravelingJules and TravelingJoan, Captain & Clark and the Fun Finders will collectively visit 30 towns and upload photos, videos and reviews along the way on bestoftheroad.com.
After chatting with local residents and enjoying the town's culture, teams will retire to a caring and comfortable hospitality experience at Country Inns & Suites By Carlson. Joined by the teams along their route will be a chase crew of filmmakers documenting the rally in an RV, provided by Fleetwood RV.
The winning teams will be announced on July 15 in Los Angeles and the winning towns will be announced in New Orleans on July 21 at the 97th annual Destination Marketing Association International Convention. The Best of the Road Rally grand prize is $10,000 and a 2011 Saab 9-4X.
