DALLAS, March 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
- Special edition commemorates first Texas-exclusive truck
- Lone Star model is top-selling Ram in Texas
- Commemorative logos and badging celebrate 10th anniversary
Ram Truck today unveiled a special 10th Anniversary edition of its Texas-only 2012 Ram 1500 Lone Star.
Ten years ago, Ram Truck was the first manufacturer to recognize the strength of the pickup market in Texas and to offer an exclusive edition for the state, and in 2002, the first Ram Lone Star edition debuted.
"The Ram 1500 Lone Star was the first pickup truck designed by Texans and built specifically for Texans," said Fred Diaz, President and CEO, Ram Truck Brand and Chrysler de Mexico, a San Antonio native. "Native Texans are very proud to be from the Lone Star State. For the last 10 years, this truck has given us the authentic opportunity to proudly connect Ram with Texas' very proud state motto. It's by far our best-selling Ram truck in Texas."
The Ram 1500 Lone Star model makes up 30-40 percent of all Ram 1500s sold in Texas. Since the Lone Star's debut, Ram has sold more than 80,000 of the Texas-only models.
The Ram Lone Star 10th Anniversary edition will get new, larger "Lone Star" badges with the prominent red, white and blue Texas state emblem on its front doors and tailgate. The new badges are part of an exclusive appearance package and replace the "Ram 1500" badging that accents most other Ram models.
On the inside, the anniversary model features Katzkin perforated leather seats with stylized Texas/Lone Star logos. A 10th Anniversary Lone Star logo is called out on the passenger glove box. The four embroidered floor mats will also feature the Lone Star name.
The 2012 Ram 10th Anniversary Lone Star is exclusively available in Crew Cab configuration with bucket seats. Paint choices include Black, Bright Silver, Bright White, Deep Cherry Red, Flame Red, Mineral Gray and True Blue.
Standard Ram Lone Star features include the 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 with fuel-saver technology, which delivers 390 horsepower, 407 lb. ft. of torque and 20 mpg. It's backed by a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Lone Star also gets a 115V auxiliary power outlet, 20-inch aluminum wheels, Class IV receiver hitch, a 10-way adjustable power driver's seat, fog lamps, halogen quad headlamps, leather-wrapped steering wheel, locking lug nuts, rear 60/40 split folding seats and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls. In addition, more than two dozen factory options and hundreds of Mopar accessories are available for buyers to further personalize their Ram Lone Star.
Pricing for the package is $1,500, giving the 2012 Ram 1500 Lone Star 10th Anniversary edition an MSRP starting at $36,440. It goes on sale at the end of second quarter 2012.
