LOS ANGELES, Aug. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Supermarket partners Ralphs Grocery Company and Food 4 Less Stores announced today that they would accept donations from customers through September 9 to help victims of Hurricane Harvey.
Beginning Monday August 28 and continuing through Saturday, September 9, 2017, customer donations will be accepted at special-marketed coin boxes located at the checkstands in all Ralphs and Food 4 Less stores in Southern California, as well as at the company's 21 Foods Co stores in Central and Northern California, and at 14 Food 4 Less stores serving the greater Chicago, Illinois area.
All monies collected will be forwarded directly to the American Red Cross for relief efforts tied to the hurricane that has battered southeast Texas this week.
"Our customers and associates have always responded generously to help those in need, particularly when disaster strikes," said Valerie Jabbar, President of Ralphs. "Every contribution will help the Red Cross provide emergency assistance to the victims of this devastating storm."
Ralphs and Food 4 Less' Hurricane Harvey fundraising efforts are in addition to the announcement made by the supermarket' parent company, The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR), that The Kroger Co Foundation is making a $100,000 commitment to the Houston Food Bank. For every social share of the #KrogerCares post, the Kroger Co Foundation will donate $5 to the Food Bank, up to $100,000, to supply operational support and meals to families affected by the floods..

Ralphs and Food 4 Less are also inviting their 30,000 associates to join the cause as well as support fellow Kroger associates in the Houston area affected by the storm through Helping Hands, an internal fundraising effort.
