Ralphs Raises More Than $137,000 to Reduce Hunger in Southern California

LOS ANGELES, July 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Ralphs announced it raised $137,469.90 during the month of May to assist hunger relief efforts in Southern California. The funds were raised through the supermarket company's annual Bringing Hope to the Table campaign that was carried out in all Ralphs supermarkets from April 28 to May 11.

Monies raised through this year's Bringing Hope to the Table campaign will benefit seven Southern California food banks that are members of Feeding America, the nation's largest hunger-relief organization. Food banks receiving support from the 2013 Bringing Hope to the Table promotion are: FINDS Inc (Cathedral City), Food Bank of Santa Barbara County, Food Share (Oxnard), Los Angeles Regional Foodbank, Feeding America San Diego, Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, and Second Harvest Food Bank Serving Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.

During the promotion, each time a Ralphs customer purchased a participating item they showed their support for food banks in their community. Participating Ralphs brand products and items from numerous vendor partners, were marked with special shelf tags to indicate their pledge to support Bringing Hope to the Table.

Since 2006, Ralphs has contributed more than $2 million in food and funds to local food banks through the annual Bringing Hope to the Table campaign.

Last year, Ralphs provided more than $8 million in cash and in-kind donations to organizations focused on health, education, the fight against hunger, developing our youth, and the environment.
