Rally Software to Host Statewide Apps Challenge
Go Code Colorado Builds Apps to Solve Business Challenges
BOULDER, Colo., March 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Rally (NYSE: RALY), a leading global provider of cloud-based solutions for managing Agile software development, today announced that the company has been chosen by the Colorado Secretary of State's office as one of five locations statewide to host the Go Code Colorado Challenge Weekend.
Taking place from Friday, March 21 through Sunday, March 23, Go Code Colorado is an apps challenge designed to make public data more accessible and user-friendly for Colorado businesses. Teams across the state will compete to solve five business challenges (submitted by members of Colorado's business community) that can be addressed with public data, including issues such as business site location and access to capital.
"Boulder is an entrepreneurial powerhouse, with a vibrant culture and enthusiastic, smart professionals. We're excited to work with local talent and continue to encourage collaborations that ultimately strengthen our local communities," said Ryan Martens, Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Rally. "This is an unprecedented opportunity for Colorado's citizen engineers to join forces and use their technical skills and passion to give back to their communities and help build businesses."
"Rally has been a great community citizen and has helped to inspire and drive collaboration among entrepreneurs in Boulder," said Elaine Marino, event organizer for Go Code Colorado. "With its focus on mobilizing its employees, investors and the Colorado community toward solving the world's toughest problems, Rally is an ideal location to host one of the Challenge Weekend events for Go Code Colorado."
In addition to hosting the Go Code Colorado Boulder Challenge Weekend, Rally employees will participate in the event. As part of its Rally For Impact corporate social responsibility mission, Rally's passion is to mobilize citizen engineers who are using technology to solve problems using environmentally, economically and socially responsible solutions. Rally encourages employees to spend at least 20 hours of paid time per year as volunteers in the community, and the company recently gave $1.38M of its founding equity to community and entrepreneurial nonprofits, as well as created the Rally for Impact Foundation.
Go Code Colorado is the first competition of its kind in the United States that uses public data to build business tools and grow commerce. Two teams of finalists from each region will advance to a final competition in Denver on May 9, where they will compete for up to $50,000 in cash awards, in-kind incentives and investor connections. The project is a bipartisan initiative of Colorado's Secretary of State's Office, the Governor's Office and Office of Information Technology, the Office of Economic Development and the International Trade, and the Statewide Internet Portal Authority.
