Rally Software Brings Customer Hackathon Series to Raleigh
Rally-and-Customer Hackers Customize Agile ALM Platform to Meet Unique Needs
RALEIGH, N.C., Oct. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Rally® continues its series of Hackathons in which Rally-and-customer hacker pairs work side-by-side customizing the Rally platform to meet unique business or process needs. Hacker teams collaborate intensively over two days with the goal of creating functional custom Rally Apps that provide immediate value to customers' businesses.
"Rally Hackathons embrace engineers that take pride in their craft and are wholly committed to delivering quality," said Todd Olson, VP of Products at Rally. "Earlier this year, the engineers who collaborated in our first Customer Hackathon harnessed their ingenuity, discipline, and purpose to create 15 functional Apps that extend Rally's platform to solve real-world problems."
The Hackathon kicked off yesterday with workshops on both Rally's AppSDK 2.0 and its Analytics API - the building blocks that help engineers build Apps and extend the Rally platform using the same tools Rally uses for internal product development. Rally-customer teams will demo their work this afternoon to a panel of judges, who will select first and second place winners based on the creativity and elegance of the App's design and implementation, usefulness, and functional completeness.
With over 2,000 customer-created Apps to date, Rally offers new ways for the larger ALM community to browse, share and learn how Apps are created and customized for unique needs. Rally's partnership with GitHub adds a powerful social-coding platform to Rally's global developer community, leveraging public repositories to create, continuously improve, and share open-source code. Rally-Customer engineers will share their code throughout the Hackathon, making it accessible and lowering the barriers of collaboration for developers to build upon and deliver robust, valuable Apps.
The Hackathon is immediately followed by an open house and tour of Rally's new Raleigh offices, located on the edge of downtown Raleigh in historic Pilot Mill. Company-wide, Rally currently has 30 positions open, including three engineering roles based in its Raleigh, NC office. To view and apply for open positions, visit Rally's Career Page.
