Rally Foundation Takes a $100,000 Stand Against Childhood Cancer
Take Action to Help Kids Fight Cancer During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
ATLANTA, Sept. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Childhood cancer is the No. 1 disease killer of children ages 0-15 in the U.S., yet it is severely underfunded each year. In fact, childhood cancer receives only 4 percent of federal funding for cancer research. The Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research (Rally) serves to shed light on this issue and bridge the funding gap.
In honor of September being Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Rally will be making a $100,000 seed grant to the Children's Oncology Group for its new EveryChild Initiative. This project is a research study that will capture the biology and outcome of every child diagnosed with cancer in the U.S., which will forge the pathway to better treatment and cures for all childhood cancers.
"Rally's goal in September is to raise awareness and more importantly, get the grassroots to take action!" said Dean Crowe, chief executive officer and founder of Rally. "It is absolutely heartbreaking what these families endure and you know that all they want is for their babies to get better. They want a cure and we want to help find it."
Rally is inviting you to join its fight during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month through a variety of ways:
- Support the 46 Faces of Rally Campaign: Each school day 46 children are diagnosed with cancer. Forty-six Rally Kids have a fundraising page, and you can support them by sharing their pages or making a donation.
- Host a Fundraiser: Hold Rally 4 Quarters 4 Research change collection fundraiser or join a Rally Athlete Half Marathon Training Team.
- Researchers can Apply for a Grant: Rally is currently accepting letters of intent, the first step in its competitive peer review grant application process.
