Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research Announces Donation to Local Cancer Center
~H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center to receive funding to help fight childhood cancer; money raised through national campaign sponsored by Constellation Brands
TAMPA, Fla., Feb. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research (Rally) presented a check today for $10,000 to the Sunshine Project at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center as part of its national "Corks Against Cancer" campaign with Constellation Brands and its Blackstone Winery brand.
The campaign took place from September – December 2011. Donating $1.00 from every bottle of Blackstone purchased nationally, Constellation gave over $163,000 to Rally to fund pediatric cancer research across the country.
Through the efforts of local restaurants and liquor stores, $30,000 was raised in Florida. These funds were provided in part by Texas Cattle Company. Texas Cattle Company was one of 130 accounts in Florida to participate in the campaign.
"Rally has been a long-time supporter of the Sunshine Project at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center," says Dean Crowe, founder and chief executive officer of Rally. "We are thrilled to have the support of Constellation Brands and accounts like the Texas Cattle Company, allowing us to make greater strides in childhood cancer research."
"For the last four years, a grassroots partnership developed between Rally and Constellation Brands," said Rob Sands, president and CEO, Constellation Brands, Inc. "As a result of this national fundraising campaign, we are very pleased to donate to Rally to help in the fight against childhood cancer."
For every dollar Rally receives, 93 cents goes to support childhood cancer research, according to independently audited financials. Since its founding in 2005, Rally has awarded more than $2.2 million for childhood cancer research grants supporting 50 projects across the country.
