JESSUP, Md., Feb. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ --
Do you want carpet…or carpet?
That, along with the occasional HPL application, used to be the range of finish options architects had available to them when looking to maintain access to service distribution under their client's raised floor. In other areas of the building where a more sophisticated or higher-end aesthetic was desired, underlayment would be put down so a third-party finish could be utilized. This was obviously an imperfect solution as it rendered the service void in those areas inaccessible, inflexible, and unable to be reconfigured as business needs changed. Today, Tate's factory-applied access floor finishes and design capabilities are a different animal altogether, with new layout and engineering options all but eliminating the need to choose between form and function.
Tate access floor systems are available with a wide variety of factory applied architectural finish options ranging from laminated wood, porcelain, terrazzo, and resilient tiles to integrated panels like classic concrete and our upcoming Stoneworks line. When combined with our in-house engineering and design assist teams, architects and interior designers can achieve virtually any design aesthetic their clients might want.
Recently, Tate has pushed the envelope of what's possible with an access floor design even further – working with Salesforce to achieve a plank wood and multi-piece porcelain design that featured a curved transition for their Salesforce East campus in San Francisco, and with Northwestern University for the new Kellogg School of Management building which utilized varying width and shades of porcelain to create their multi-piece design. On both of these projects, our clients worked with Tate's project support team from the very beginning of the project to successfully engineer a solution that achieved their design and minimized the traditional grid layout associated with an access floor.
Tate's custom engineering and manufacturing process means architects and designers can truly capture the signature style their clients want. And the do this while still maintaining the freedom to take full advantage of the accessibility, flexibility, and reconfigurability offered by access flooring. Finally, you also see an impact during the build phase of a project. Since Tate's designs are achieved in-factory and shipped as a finished product to the job site, you achieve a more polished result than you could achieve by creating the look in the field, and end up with a faster, simpler installation process which can translate to bottom line savings to initial construction costs.
Less time and money spent achieving the desired look while not sacrificing any of the benefits offered by an access floor – what's not for your clients to love?
