RainTree Oncology Services Expands Network With New Practice Additions
RainTree Oncology Network Now Includes 549 Leading Community Oncologists
SAN DIEGO, March 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- RainTree Oncology Services continues to expand its network with the additions of The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, Northwest Georgia Oncology Centers and Palo Verde Hematology Oncology. There are currently 549 leading community oncologists aligned with the Company in its effort to enhance patient care and practice health through improved oral medication management. The three new oncology practices and their patients will gain access to RainTree Oncology's exclusive programs, which address the specific needs of community oncologists intent on providing the best in cancer care.
As a result of RainTree Oncology's entrance into the oral group purchasing organization (GPO) market and through its partnerships with manufacturers, RainTree Oncology's members enjoy the benefits of oral GPO contracts covering a substantial percentage of the market. This coverage is continuously increasing as the Company adds new GPO contracts. RainTree Oncology's services integrate GPO benefits for orally consumed cancer drugs with both enhanced capabilities for tracking and managing oral oncology drug prescriptions, and care management programs that promote adherence to therapeutic strategies.
"While there are many perceived advantages to oral oncology drugs, their cost and complexity can present a challenge for community-based oncology practices," said Dr. Bruce Gould, medical director of Northwest Georgia Oncology Centers, P.C. "RainTree Oncology applies the power of efficiency and information to oral oncology medication management, which is key to community-based oncology practices trying to provide the highest levels of care in today's healthcare environment.
"In addition to helping us optimize oral medication management in our practices, RainTree will provide services to support the patients who take these drugs," said Dr. Gould. "These services help ensure that patients receive comprehensive counseling along with the drugs they need."
RainTree Oncology provides its members with a turnkey system for purchasing oral drugs, managing inventories, tracking prescriptions and monitoring patient adherence. For practices that do not have one, the Company will help implement on-site pharmacies, providing added convenience for patients and an important source of revenue for physicians. RainTree Oncology will also provide technology to automate oral drug prescription tracking and fulfillment in order to improve patient adherence to prescribed therapeutics.
"When it comes to oncology practice management, we believe RainTree Oncology 'gets it,"' said Dr. Gould. "We appreciate that they are physician led and focused on the patient needs in approaching medication management.
