Raelians: 'Give Extraterrestrials special diplomatic status ASAP!'
NEW YORK, March 28, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon will this week be handed an optional protocol to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, provisionally titled the "Optional Protocol Concerning Embassies for Extraterrestrials."
"This document outlines the way Raelians want the convention to address the idea of an embassy for extraterrestrials," said Daniel Turcotte, a Raelian guide and Rael's assistant for the ET Embassy project. "More than ever before, it's obvious that an ET civilization is contacting us and giving us signs to prepare us for official contact. Around the world millions of people claim to have seen UFOs. And governments and scientists undoubtedly already know about it as well! ''
Raelians believe the extraterrestrial civilization referred to by Turcotte created all life on Earth, including human beings, and that it is very peaceful and far more advanced than we are, both scientifically and philosophically.
"They're known as the Elohim, and they won't officially return to Earth until we welcome them in an Embassy and grant them appropriate diplomatic status," Turcotte explained. "Clearly, the appropriate way to do this is to provide them with a suitable embassy. However, before any state or accredited party can construct such an embassy, we must establish a legal framework that guarantees safety, security, diplomatic immunity and other parameters in an interplanetary context. This is why we respectfully request that Secretary General Ban Ki-moon proposes a conference of all nations that are parties to the Vienna convention for the purpose of discussing our submitted draft protocol, and that he also calls for offers to host it."
As they have for the last 42 years, Raelians will organize worldwide public events this year. Those events will take place on April 2, which they have declared "ET Embassy Day."
"We want to heighten awareness about the Embassy for Extraterrestrials Project," Turcotte said. "In a world of violence and wars, these events are intended to bring hope and peace, both on this planet and beyond!"
