"Richard brings unique global expertise and experience to this role as Quixey continues to develop new partnerships and strengthen our focus on new markets around the world," said Tomer Kagan, CEO and Co-founder of Quixey. "He joins us at a time of rapid growth, as Quixey now powers over 100 million queries per month."
Known for growing businesses internationally, Gregory has been responsible for over one billion dollars in revenue over the course of his career. Most recently, Gregory was VP of Revenue at Spotify, where he helped establish the company in the United States while overseeing launch partnerships like GM, P&G, and Coke, as well as global accounts and vertical strategy. At Google, Richard served in many international roles, creating new markets around Google AdWords.
"As the number of apps continues to increase around the globe, there is a growing need to democratize the app search space," said Gregory. "Quixey is building the next great search company and I look forward to championing what has become a key solution to fixing app discovery."
In addition to Gregory's hire, Quixey has just brought on one of Silicon Valley's most experienced entrepreneurs, Barak Berkowitz, as an advisor. His resume includes leading a number of successful startups including Evi, competitor with Siri, as well as Wolfram Alpha, Six Apart, and OmniSky. Combined with 30-plus years of experience at leading companies such as Apple, Logitech, and Infoseek/Disney, his knowledge will be a solid asset to advising the Quixey team.
The new appointments are part of Quixey's aggressive talent acquisition strategy to match the increasing demand for its app search and discovery solutions. Earlier this year, Quixey hired former Zynga executive Guru Gowrappan as EVP of Products in the midst of new partnership announcements with companies such as Ask.com, DuckDuckGo, Sprint, and Microsoft. The company has scaled from 5 to 70 employees in less than two years and now powers over 100 million app search queries per month. With the addition of Gregory and Gowrappan, Quixey will be placing an emphasis on monetization and revenue as it unveils more partnerships this year.
