SmartPlant Construction is a SmartPlant Enterprise application that addresses the specific needs of construction firms and facilitates efficient work processes with engineering and procurement. It enables construction groups to better plan and manage their projects with 3D visual planning tools by assimilating the dynamic inputs from engineering, procurement, fabrication, and site materials management and craft labor plans. This results in a rich 4D construction planning and simulation environment that improves quality and speed of construction, while reducing many common project construction risks.
SmartPlant Construction ensures accurate and timely decisions can be made on the best available information by integrating current information from many sources including 3D models, 2D engineering tools, materials management and project control and scheduling systems. A SmartPlant Construction user can then develop precise and flexible work packages to better manage labor and materials at the work site, with the ability to dynamically replan based on new information from other disciplines. Those capabilities allow users to shorten project times, reduce costs and risks, and ultimately improve CAPEX efficiency for owner operators.
QUIP plans to integrate the new software with its existing Intergraph SmartPlant Enterprise design and engineering solutions as well as its current enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. This integration will not only improve the quality and timeliness of its project deliverables, but will also help reduce the amount of rework and associated costs.
Intergraph's Brazilian distributor, SISGRAPH, will provide training and implementation services and support for QUIP.
"The success we have had with Intergraph solutions makes our decision to implement SmartPlant Construction a natural progression toward further increasing our productivity and enabling us to better plan and manage our projects," said Jose Simao, project director for QUIP SA.
Gerhard Sallinger, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine president, said, "SmartPlant Construction is another important SmartPlant Enterprise industry leadership milestone in enabling leading EPCs such as QUIP to boost productivity while managing risk and safety concerns on increasingly complex and costly construction projects."
SmartPlant Enterprise is an integrated solutions suite that provides full design, construction, materials and engineering data management capabilities needed for the creation, safe operation and maintenance, and capital Project Life Cycle Management (cPLM) of large-scale process, power, marine and offshore projects. The software's intelligent data-centric and rules-based solutions enable users to share data globally, build safety into plants early in the design process, and efficiently manage the engineering design basis throughout the life cycle of an asset.
The ARC Advisory Group, a leading industry analyst firm, ranked Intergraph the No. 1 overall engineering design 3D software and process engineering tools (PET) provider worldwide according to its PET Worldwide Outlook Market Analysis and Forecast through 2013.
About QUIP
QUIP was created in 2005 having as share holders Queiroz Galvao, UTC Engenharia, and IESA Oleo & Gas S.A. Bringing together expertise and experience in one of the fastest growing sectors of the Brazilian economy, the company commenced operations with the challenge of constructing the offshore FPU (Floating Production Unit) platform P-53, a project contracted by Petrobras. With a business focused on implementing EPC projects, QUIP provided the supplies, supervised other suppliers, and provided engineering development, construction site details, logistics, and integration for the project.
Headquartered at the Porto Novo wharf in Rio Grande do Sul (RS), QUIP is now among the most successful EPC companies in Brazil, meeting international quality standards. The company is in charge of the construction and assembly, commissioning, training, performance testing, and assisted operation of the projects in which it participates.
QUIP establishes competencies to optimize results by reducing costs and shortening deadlines with a skilled team in off-shore platform construction, technological innovation, and competitive and sustainable practices.
Today, QUIP's shareholders are Queiroz Galvao, UTC Engenharia, Camargo Correa, IESA O&G and PJMR. Current projects under construction include the semi-submersible P-55 with 180,000 bpd and the FPSO P-63 with 150,000 bpd. www.quip.com.br
