Quintiq Lands Contract With US FAA Worth up to $17.6 Million
WAYNE, Pennsylvania, April 21, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)[http://www.faa.gov/], the air navigation service provider (ANSP) responsible for controlling all airspace in the USA, has awarded a contract to Quintiq for Air Traffic Control employee scheduling with the integrated Quintiq Workforce Planning Solution [http://www.quintiq.com/solutions/employee-scheduling.aspx]. The Quintiq software will provide an objective method for evaluating staffing required for safe and efficient operations at the FAA's Air Traffic Control facilities.
Quintiq is a global supplier of advanced planning, scheduling and supply chain optimization software solutions. This is an indefinite quantity contract, awarded for a period of nine and a half years with a potential maximum value of USD 17.6 million.
Choosing a proven leader
"The FAA selected Quintiq because of its proven market leadership in providing employee scheduling software for complex environments," states Victor Allis, CEO at Quintiq. "Our extensive experience in the air traffic control industry and ability to deliver best practices around workforce optimization for air traffic control organizations were key to the FAA's decision to utilize Quintiq software."
Employee scheduling across the planning lifecycle
The Quintiq employee scheduling software provides FAA managers with an optimal software solution over the full scheduling horizon. Advanced optimization engines and extensive "what-if" capabilities will improve the FAA's long-term workforce planning; using what-if scenarios, managers will be able to experiment with resource allocation options and make more informed decisions with the goal of optimizing staffing levels while continuing to ensure safe and efficient operations.
In addition, the Quintiq "off-the-shelf" system has many advanced capabilities that the FAA may utilize to manage annual leave planning, efficiently create shift plans, allocate shifts to individual employees, and support short-term absenteeism management (sick leave, short-term leave ). The software supports a range of self-service concepts for employees, such as swapping shifts with colleagues and requesting leave, by helping managers evaluate the feasibility and implications of each request.
Joachim Arts, in charge of Marketing & Sales for Quintiq in North America, added: "The selection of Quintiq by such a large organization as the FAA is the strongest possible vote of confidence in our software. It proves that Quintiq can deliver significant efficiency gains in large and complex organizations, especially in the government sector. Leveraging our unmatched expertise and experience, we will keep developing highly innovative scheduling applications for other federal institutions, to help them contain and reduce costs and to provide the much-needed efficiency improvements that government organizations around the world are looking for."
Victor Allis, CEO at Quintiq, said: "The FAA agreement marks an important milestone in our company growth. Our current customer base covers more than 30% of the global airspace. The ANSP vertical is yet another market where Quintiq has achieved leadership; we are committed to extending our market leading position further in the coming years."
