Quicken Loans Ranks Among Top-Five in Computerworld's 2012 List of '100 Best Places to Work in IT'
Nation's largest online lender makes eighth consecutive appearance on list
DETROIT, June 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Detroit-based Quicken Loans Inc., the nation's largest online home loan lender and fourth largest retail mortgage lender, today announced it has placed among the top-5 on IDG Computerworld Magazine's 2012 List of "100 Best Places to Work in IT." According to the Computerworld list published online and on newsstands today, Quicken Loans ranked #5, making it the highest ranking Michigan-based company on the distinguished list. The award marks the third consecutive year Quicken Loans has ranked in the top-10 and the eighth consecutive year the company has been listed in the magazine's annual survey.
Computerworld's "100 Best Places to Work in IT" list is determined through a comprehensive questionnaire about company perks spanning categories like benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention. This year, Computerworld surveyed thousands of technology professionals, and their responses factored heavily in determining the overall rankings.
"Our technology team members drive our business, and play an integral role in helping Quicken Loans provide an amazing mortgage experience to every client, every time," said Quicken Loans CEO Bill Emerson. "Success in the mortgage industry today hinges on a company's investment in technology, and we're proud to say that our talented team is one of the main catalysts for the tremendous growth we've experienced thus far."
Quicken Loans team members enjoy a culture that encourages innovation and creativity. An example is a weekly four-hour period called "Bullet Time," in which technology team members can work on a personal project or idea of their choosing, including projects outside the core business.
"We encourage our team members to take risks and implement processes to grow our business, and make sure they have the resources to do so," said Quicken Loans Chief Information Officer Linglong He. "We are dedicated to attracting the top IT professionals in this competitive market by providing access to the tools and training necessary for them to grow both personally and professionally."
That focus on building a cadre of top technology talent was recently exhibited with the launch of ValleytoDetroit.com, a recruiting campaign created by Quicken Loans and a group of Detroit-based businesses. The campaign aims to attract Silicon Valley tech professionals to become a part of the growing technology hub in downtown Detroit.
Quicken Loans ranked in the Top 10 of FORTUNE Magazine's "100 Best Companies To Work For" in 2012 and has placed among the top-30 companies on FORTUNE's list for the past nine years.
