Quest Products Brings Alocane® Emergency Burn Gel Back to Consumers
Quest Products has announced that it will now distribute Alocane Emergency Burn Gel, which was previously a top selling burn relief product on retail shelves in the 80's and 90's.
GURNEE, Ill., April 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A Gurnee, IL based consumer packaged goods company will be adding a gel formulated for emergency burn relief to its current line of products. Quest Products has announced that it will now distribute Alocane Emergency Burn Gel. Previously a top selling product on retail shelves in the 80's and 90's, it was taken off the market due to financial difficulties facing the parent company, First Pharmaceutical.

Alocane® was invented by Ron May, a serial entrepreneur who began searching for a new form of burn relief after treatment at a hospital for a serious sunburn led to blood poisoning due to over application. After investigating alternative treatments and coming up empty handed, May realized there was an opportunity to develop a new burn relief product.
May's subsequent research led to the formation of FIRST Pharmaceuticals and the production of Alocane Maximum Strength Emergency Burn Gel, a water based gel that delivers fast pain relief at the site of the burn. In 2001, FIRST Pharmaceutical had to shut down its operations and loyal consumers to the Alocane® brand were unable to find the product on retail shelves.
One of the differentiating factors of Alocane® when compared to other products on the market is that it contains 4% Lidocaine, the highest level available. Also, Alocane's proprietary formula is water-based, as opposed to oil or petroleum, which can trap heat into the skin and slow down the body's natural healing process. Added aloe vera and vitamin E provide skin-soothing properties like itch relief in addition to healing benefits that can reduce scarring.
May hoped to bring Alocane® back to market and partnered with Quest Products, Inc. to provide the marketing, sales and distribution elements necessary. "Ron came to me with a great product and a recognized brand name, he just needed a team that could bring it back to the retail shelves" said Mark McGreevy, Vice President of Business Development for Quest Products.
By partnering with Quest Products, May hopes to make Alocane gel easily available in order to be a part of every family's first aid kit. "Consumers have been looking for Alocane for years," says May, "and now with the partnership with Quest we are able to make it available again." Alocane can be used on a variety of burns including flame, friction, sun, electrical, and even on burns associated with radiation treatment.
Alocane is currently available for sale at all Walgreens stores and can be purchased online at the Quest Products flagship online store MyQuestStore.com, as well as other online retailers such as Amazon.com, Drugstore.com, Walmart.com, Walgreens.com and others. Alocane Plus®, intended for more severe burns, is available only to the medical community by request.
