"I am pleased with total company revenue of $7.3 billion, which was a record first quarter for Halliburton," said Dave Lesar, Chairman, President and CEO of Halliburton. "We expect earnings per share to grow approximately 25% in the second quarter, with further increases to follow." Halliburton added that it repurchased about 9 million shares of common stock at a total cost of $500 million during Q1 2014. Baker Hughes Incorporated Analyst Notes
On April 17, 2014, Baker Hughes Incorporated (Baker Hughes) reported Q1 2014 results. In Q1 2014, the Company reported revenue of $5.7 billion, up 9.6% YoY. Q1 2014 net income attributable to Baker Hughes was $328 million, or $0.74 per diluted share, compared to $267 million, or $0.60 per diluted share, in Q1 2013. Commenting on the results, Martin Craighead, Chairman and CEO of Baker Hughes, stated, "Our performance is the result of actions to optimize operational efficiency, along with increasing demand for several innovative new product offerings. Compared to the same quarter last year, our adjusted earnings per share have increased 29%. Based on this positive performance, and our favorable outlook for our industry, we repurchased $200 million of our shares during the first quarter."
