Analyst Update: Financial and Operational Results, Appointments, and Business Agreements
U.S. stocks advanced on Thursday, recovering from their previous two disappointing sessions, as better than expected weekly jobless claims report boosted sentiment. The NASDAQ Composite gained 0.53%, to close at 4,945.54, the Dow Jones Industrial Average edged up 0.46%, to 17,924.06, and the S&P 500 ended the day at 2,088.00, up 0.38%. European stocks were mixed on Thursday. Germany's DAX 30 rose 0.51%, while France's CAC 40 and the London's FTSE 100 were down 0.29% and 0.67%, respectively, on Thursday. Meanwhile, Asian markets closed lower on Thursday amid rising concern over a potential policy shift by Chinese stock market regulators. The Shanghai Composite, Australia's S&P ASX and Japan's Nikkei all fell on Thursday.
American Eagle Energy Corp. announced its financial and operational results for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2014. On April 7, 2015, the Company announced production of 238,140 barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) for the quarter, a 38% increase from 172,829 BOE produced in the fourth quarter of 2013.
On May 4, 2015, Westlake Chemical Partners LP reported its first quarter 2015 earnings. Westlake reported Q1 2015 net income attributable to the Partnership of $8.5 million, or $0.31 per limited partner unit, and MLP distributable cash flow of $9.0 million.
On April 7, 2015 Murray Energy Corporation and Foresight Reserves, LP (Foresight Reserves) announced that they have entered into a new definitive agreement, for a transaction whereby Murray Energy is expected to acquire a significant economic interest in Foresight Energy GP LLC and Foresight Energy LP (FELP, together with FEGP, Foresight Energy) for a cash consideration of approximately $1.37 billion.
On April 30, 2015, Sunoco LP announced the appointment of Matthew S. Ramsey as Chairman of the Board. Mr. Ramsey would be succeeding Sam L. Susser, who resigned from the Board to pursue other new business interests.
On April 29, 2015, International Paper Co. reported its first quarter 2015 results. The Company reported net earnings attributable to common shareholders of $313 million or $0.74 per share versus net earnings of $134 million or $0.32 per share in the fourth quarter of 2014.
